In Australia, they call that headline a ‘shit stir’. Sorry
Back to the news..
Here’s a link to an encouraging thread re. Johnspahn’s reduced cloud textures (CloudMaxx) and positive reports of fps increases:
The tweaks are free, so let us know what they’re like! Chip and I are away from our beloveds for too long (PC that is).
A couple of readers have reported that Nvidia has released a new beta driver, hearing reports of better frames, so I for one will be testing later in the week.
Funny, I used to laugh at the desperate efforts some FSXers would go to, so their fps could be above 15fps. Now it’s starting in xplane land, only for me it’s to keep the frames up to 30, and to covet the precious HDR.

Damn, i just spent 20 minutes looking up the truth of this posts title! Damn you!
JK
Hehe Jack, read my posts more carefully next time!
I was totally kidding. Would never waste my time like that. to much 727 work to be done.
That’s good, keep working so you can post more screens. And if you don’t get a good sound recording and management of the ear-splitting sound of this jet, I’ll hunt you down
Sounds we may just have. More info on this at a later date
hahahaha! awesome…..
The new nVidia driver that I emailed you about isn’t a beta, Its a new WHQL release dubbed 295.73. I just tested it in XP10 and noted slightly better performance across the board. I am getting a weird line when global shadows are enabled, but its barely noticeable.

Apols – and what does WHQL mean? We Hate Queer Logins? Simon
Windows Hardware Quality Labs testing or WHQL. Basically a tested stable release.
Thanks! Tried it, seems stable, but performance in xp not noticeably quicker. Not slower either
Simon
Odd, I’m getting much better global shadows performance. I can run it on high! (not melt you gpu). And no more weird green and purple artifacts with it on either.
-NR
It was only a quick test. But I recall at least all the green fields had gone!
Really, good shadows? I might try that too.
Don’t know which factor it was, but I installed John’s Reduced cloud textures. Flying towards them gave me a couple extra fps. But once inside full, the fps shot up to 60!
Simon
That’s interesting. Where can I find the download?
-NR
Ok, I just noticed your link. Thanks!
